Lyrics

THE ROOMING HOUSE
(Timothy Brickley & David Rheins)

I stand alone before the rooming house,
the place w lived when we were in love.
I stare at the window we gazed out of
and think I don’t know what I’m here for.

I climb the stairs we used to walk hand in hand,
stand in front of the door we couldn’t wait to get behind.

I know things will never be the same,
but this old house still stands.
I feel the memories swirl.
I close my eyes and I’m a boy and you are that lovely girl.

At night that winter, I would wake up and wonder
how we got here, then I would fall back asleep.
The scent of your body, the spell we were under
was peaceful, simple and deep.

If you ever need someone to count on,
you know now that isn’t me,
but if you ever need to know someone loves you forever,
you don’t have to look far to see, to see me.

I stand alone before the rooming house.
