ASH AND BLAME
(Timothy Brickley and David Rheins)
What did he expect,
35 years, couple a packs a day?
Now you're sittin' on the plane,
talking on your cel, sifting through
ash and blame.
You'd just a soon have stayed.
Hell, he wouldn't even know where
to find you, never really even
saw you play.
But one day, Jack - you're gonna do it all differently.
It's a real, live fact - it's up to you to let the love come clean.
It's a big, wide smack – gotta get on it with while you're all still here.
Don't have to fear, run and burn - you can laugh and love and learn.
You should do it for your sister,
it will be a little better having big brother there on the scene.
No matter how it was,
he's a part of you all and one time he knew how to dream.
We can become prisoners in this life,
Only some of us get a glimpse that
how it is ain't always what you're seeing.
But one day, Jack - you're gonna do it all differently.
It's a real, live fact - it's up to you to let the love come clean.
It's a big, wide smack – gotta get on it with while you're all still here.
Don't have to fear, run and burn - you can laugh and love and learn.
