I never loved you. (Songwriting session, 2006.) / LON AND JON

"In the restaurant when I see you, you want me to pass by. But in the morning when you're leaving, I'm kissing you and I don't know why." This is how it happens. You're in the Room Where It Happens. You've been warned.

I NEVER LOVED YOU

(Timothy Brickley & David Rheins)

I never loved you, but you didn’t ask me to.

I never loved you, but you didn’t ask me to.

In the restaurant when I see you,

you want me to pass by.

But in the morning when you’re leaving

I’m kissing you and I don’t know why

I never loved you,

but you didn’t ask me to.

I only loved you

as long as you wanted me to.

When you left me at the station,

it was Five Fifty-Two.

You left me with your coffee.

I’m starting to feel blue.

I never loved you, it was not part of the deal.

We had something special, that you taught me not to feel.

(From the start that certain something,

wouldn’t reach the heart.

Then again, there was nothing,

particularly keeping us apart.)

It’s been six months this morning,

it suddenly starts to snow.

I won’t miss you, I don’t hate you

but I start to cry as the train starts to go (a single tear, I turn to go)

When you went – I never loved you.

When you woke – I never loved you.

When you left – I never loved you.

But when you came - I said I’d welcome you back home.

I never loved you (echo round, etc.)

But I liked you a lot.
